We’re going to help our NJ residents learn all about the great things NJ has to offer, from A-Z. Let’s tackle A today!
In Point Pleasant Beach, you’ll find Jenkinson’s Aquarium (300 Ocean Ave., Point Pleasant Beach, 732-899-1212; http://www.jenkinsons.com/aquarium). Here you can explore 2 floors of exotic fish, mammals, and birds, such as Atlantic and Pacific sharks, penguins, alligators, seals – even coral reefs. Don’t miss the petting zoo, where you can touch live animals such as a sea star or a sting ray. A great first aquarium visit for the young ones!
The New Jersey State Aquarium (1 Riverside Dr, Camden, 856-365-3300; http://www.njaquarium.org). It has amazing displays of everything from live coral to seals to African black-footed penguins. You won’t want to miss the touch tank, where you can get your hands on a shark, or the C.O.O.L. (Conservation Outreach and Observation Lab) exhibit, which is, well, a cool collection of animals from South and Central America, the Caribbean, and the Indo-Pacific (think centipedes, four eye fish, octopus, frogs and upside-down jellyfish).
