D is for Deli

They say nobody has deli’s like New Jersey has deli’s. And a Jersey kid is a deli kid!

Don’t miss out on the huge sandwiches at Harold’s New York Deli (Holiday Inn, 707 Route 46 East, Parsippany, 973-335-3339).  The pastrami sandwich, for example, is a wonder of both taste and architecture and is large enough to feed two adults. It’s no wonder Harold’s repeatedly wins New Jersey MOnthly Readers’ Choice awards for best deli in northern New Jersey.

The Milburn Deli (328 Milburn Ave, Milburn, 973-379-5800) and Larry’s Kosher Deli (1353 S. Ave., Plainfield; 908-755-8013) are also regional faves.

Hobby’s Delicatessen and Restaurant (32 Branford Place, Newark; 973-623-0410) is another one of the Garden State’s greatest. The original structure burned down years ago, but the replacement attracts the same record number of customers.

Jack Cooper’s Celebrity Deli (1199 Amboy Ave., Edison; 732-549-4580) is a perennial Readers’ Choice favorite in the central region of the state. The Downbeach Deli (8 South Essex Ave, Margate, 609-823-7310) is a popular spot in the south.
