Graco Recalls 2 Million Strollers

Another day, another recall. At least this one doesn’t involve me signing a waiver that I’ll destroy the stroller for $10. I just have to get a free repair kit. And you probably do too. Most everyone I know (minus a few more monied friends) have Graco strollers.

Information taken from

Several years after receiving reports of four infant strangulation deaths, Graco Children’s Products Inc., is voluntarily recalling about 2 million strollers. The recall is in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, and has been issued due to risk of entrapment and strangulation. The CPSC and Graco have received four reports of infant deaths due to strangulation that occurred in these strollers between 2003 and 2005. Additionally, the CPSC is aware of five reports of infant entrapment, resulting in cuts and bruises, as well as one report of an infant having difficulty breathing.

The recall involves older versions of the Graco Quattro Tour™ and MetroLite™ strollers and travel systems manufactured before the existence of the January 2008 voluntary industry standard which increased the height of the opening between the stroller’s tray and the seat bottom, specifically to prevent infant entrapment and strangulation hazards.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled strollers and contact Graco for a free repair kit.
