Soon… Red, White and Blue

In a few weeks, we will have the “kick off to summer” holiday: Memorial Day! I love finding something cute for The Bean to wear for Memorial Day, especially because she can rock it for Fourth of July and Labor Day too. Love multiple holiday use. Here are some ideas to help your little girl embrace her patriotic-ness.

Summer…. Ahhhhhh Summer!

Today was a glorious New Jersey day. Temperatures in the 60s, slight breeze, bright and sunny with blue skies and puffy white clouds. We spent so much time outside soaking it in. We chalked, we pulled out the bounce house, we used the swings, and we blew the biggest bubbles ever! Such a great day with my girl.

All this sun and fun had us itching for summer. And summer means swim suits. Here are some adorable ones. We already have the Gymboree on order!

Green With Envy…

Mostly because I wish these came in my size! For those who don’t know, green is my signature color. I love it. I even incorporated it into my wedding. No wonder that I’m loving these rocking green girls dresses. My daughter now is the proud owner of something from each previous post, and the tough choice of which one of these will end up in her closet has begun.

What looks are you most excited about for spring and summer? Or are you just looking forward to ditching the long sleeves, puffy coat and boots? I love being able to walk out the front door without taking 10 minutes to prep myself and mini me first. It’s been cold, and windy as all get out, here in New Jersey, but I’m sure the nice weather will be here soon. And in another few months, when it’s 60 degrees hotter outside we’ll be complaining about that!

Enjoy my green with envy choices!Image

Feeding My Addiction For The Next Generation

Shoes. Love them. Love them for me. Love them for mini me. Girls shoes are so sparkly (I know they make them the exact same way for adults, but I’m not sure I can pull off hot pink sequin flats as well as a 5-year-old. Darn.) playful and fun. I love shoes that are fun.

I’m not sure if it’s on purpose or just happened, that my picks are mostly in my 2 favorite colors: green and pink.

Here are some options that would make Cinderella jealous. All available at your local mall.

Easter’s “Hop”pening Soon!

Are you ready for Easter? It’s less than two weeks away! Anytime a holiday is early like this, it throws me all off. I spent today ripping down the St. Patty’s decorations in order to throw some Easter ones up (and at least locate my daughter’s basket, hair bows and some plastic eggs for the bunny to hide). Do you have an Easter basket you love for your litle girl? A great Easter basket is like an heirloom, it stays with them and can be handed down to their child.

Here are some pretty finds:

Summer Will Be Here Soon

Despite the recent snow fall here in New Jersey, and projected snow fall Tuesday, summer will be here eventually. Knowing that (and getting sick and tired of looking at my daughter’s winter clothes) has me daydreaming about cute and light summer shorts. Here are a some fun finds I’ve discovered at stores that should be in most malls. Can’t you feel the sun now?

The Dollar Store: Best Arts & Crafts Store on a Budget

dollarThe Dollar Store. A hidden gem of, well, crap. But good crap. Sometimes I just can’t see paying regular store prices for things that aren’t meant to have longevity. Like birthday cards. Who is paying $3-$5 for a card for a 3-year-old? And if you get into grade school, and invited to each child’s party, that’s a lot of cards! They have very cute cards, 2 for $1. More my speed. And if you want to get all fancy, they have an “upscale” section where cards are $1 each. Still a bargain.

We also hit the dollar store for holiday decorations, holiday classroom donations (we always volunteer to bring in the table cloths, napkins and plates), and holiday gifts for classmates. And their glow in the dark wands, masks, bracelets, necklaces, etc. are perfect for Fourth of July, Halloween, New Year’s Eve.

Art supplies are another great item to stock up on. When they are little, they go through crayons (breakage) and colored paper (1 mark per sheet) like crazy. We also get our safety scissors, tape, glue, glitter glue, paper, stickers, and much more there. It’s also a great source for playing school. There is a section of bulletin board items, pens, pencils, post its, certificates, stars and a variety of other things that would make any budding teacher happy.

According to Growing a Jeweled Rose, the dollar store is more of a treasure than even I knew. She can find hundreds of uses (literally) for dollar stores and breaks it down for you section by section. Such creativity! Such great ideas. I will never underestimate my Dollar Tree again.

What things do you rely on your local dollar store for? What have been your best finds?
